Let’s hope Let’s Golf 2 will appear in the App Store shortly.

Quite frankly most of the apps I get are either $0.99 or Free. A few have been $1.99 and only a slight few have been in the $4.99 range. And there has only been one which was more than that, and at $9.99 (WritePad Pro) it’s the worst app I’ve bought.

What’s funny is that many of the apps I grabbed at $0.99 are now double or triple that price. Sometimes jumping in early is a good thing. Plus at $0.99 I really can’t complain if the app doesn’t have everything I need. Offering up that small token encourages development.

So far, here are the best games and apps I have. I use or play these on a regular basis.

Bu they’re not all gems. Here’s two apps I bought which I can’t stand to use. Shopper was only $0.99 but it used to be an excellent app. Now it’s bloated and greedy.

WritePad Pro was $9.99 and I can’t stand to use it.

- WritePad Pro – This app would be perfect if they would fix the editor. They added and extra bar which consumes nearly the entire screen in landscape mode. You only get one line of text and then the autocorrect covers up everything else.
- Shopper – Used to be such a great and easy to use app for making a quick list of items. Now it’s overly complicated and riddled with completely unnecessary extras. You pay for the app then have to pay again to turn off these great features.

So what great games or apps am I missing? Which titles do you keep coming back to over and over again?

Overall I’m very pleased with the game. The graphics are good and the gameplay is easy and fun. The minigames, give you something amusing to do to earn extra money and food along the journey, just don’t expect them to be very complicated. There are also the aspects of getting lost, disease, getting robbed, being attacked, breaking down and staying ahead of schedule, but there isn’t much decision making to be done. You pick a path from time to time, you can look for help when the kids get sick (better have money on hand though), you can pick the speed at which you move and you can stop to pan for gold, pick berries and hunt for food. It’s not a sim so don’t expect a lot of resource management.

All in all it’s quite enjoyable. And it’s something you can pick up and play for a few minutes or sit down and rack up some miles. It’s a great game at the $0.99 price point, but I don’t think I would have been happy had I paid $4.99. I paid that much for Dungeon Hunter which has much more gameplay and replay value. Even at the current $2.99 I can see some disappointment. It will bring back some memories of the old version, but don’t expect this to be a nail biting adventure. It’s fun for what it is, you just need to get it at a good price.

However, I did find a $0.99 app that is working quite well for me. Notes N More offers Notes, Tasks, Voice Memos and Pictures. I don’t really need the memo and picture part, but the Note and Task portion works quite well. All your items show up in a list together, with the most recently edited or viewed located at the top.

The Note editor is pretty good, but it looks like you could get another line on the screen when you view it in landscape mode. Hopefully that will change in the future. The editor is standard faire which is perfectly fine.

Tasks are nothing fancy, just a checklist, but that works for me. You don’t set due dates or show progress or partial completion. For that kind of tracking you would need something more powerful like, Simply Lists. However, for a simple checklist with notes associated with them, this works very well.

Notes and tasks can also have tags/categories associated with them. Filter and group your notes for easy viewing. Further, the app is very customizable when it comes to look and feel. You can change the background, not just to a color but to a texture, change the font color and style and change the color theme of the app.

It may not be a OneNote replacement, but for the low price of $0.99 this app does a great job! And it’s a universal app so its formatted for the iPad as well. If you’re looking to write down your ideas and organize a “to do” list then this is definitely worth looking into.
